It’s easy to forget that our home office needs to be a carefully crafted space when we’re constantly working in them. By just following these few designer tips, you will be able to create a well-balanced, functional home office.
  1. DECLUTTER YOUR WORKSPACE

As the saying goes – a clear space equals a clear mind. Eliminate excess furniture or accessories from your room, keep it simple and to the point.

  1. LIGHTNING IS KEY

If you can, try and position your workstation near a window to get as much natural light as possible. You can also create the illusion of a lighter room with mirrors and clever interior tricks.

What to do if your room is too dark?

  • Opt for a lighter paint colour on the walls – white or white with a grey undertone helps the light bounce around the room.
  • Put up a mirror – if you have a dark corner, place a mirror on a wall that gets light and watch as it bounces the light onto the darker wall.
  • Keep your window dressings light and simple
  1. INVEST IN INDOOR PLANTS

Bring the outdoors inside with some potted plants or flowers. Not only will greenery help contribute to cleaner breathing air, but it will also keep your room on-trend (indoor plants are having a moment right now). Greenery also gives us a sense of wellbeing.

  1. ENSURE YOUR CHAIR IS AS COMFORTABLE

Whether you are lucky enough to be sitting on an office chair or slumming it with an alternative (shoutout to anyone using a garden chair), ensure it is comfortable! But equally important, make sure that your chair is at the right height. When sitting down, your screen should be at eye level.

We have a huge range of office chairs. Not only are they eye-catching with beautifully detailed craftsmanship, but it also has great back support. Adjustable height,  and…  you can choose between different leather options!

  1. YOUR DESK COULD BE THE DEAL MAKER... OR BREAKER

Having a desk made from solid wood will make all the difference. Natural materials typically last longer, are more neutral in design and are easy to maintain.

A desk with drawers and cupboards will help you to be more organised, and that means being more productive!

If all these tips are still a bit much for you… why not give our interior stylist a call? She will guide you in making the best decisions for your home office.
